Taxes

  1. It depends on your case. The basics: your ID, the SSN or ITIN of everyone on your return, your W-2s or 1099s and your bank account. On the call we give you the exact list.

  2. Yes. What you earn working for yourself has to be reported, even if nobody gives you a form. We help you add it up and subtract your work expenses.

  3. For most people, April 15. If it falls on a weekend or holiday, the next business day counts.

  4. You can file an extension with Form 4868 and get six more months to file. But what you owe is still due in April.

  5. Employers have until February 1, 2027 to give you your 2026 W-2.

  6. The IRS decides that, not us. The IRS says an e-filed return usually takes about three weeks, though it can take longer. You can check its status with the “Where's My Refund?” tool on irs.gov.

  7. Don't ignore it: many have a date to respond by. Bring us the whole letter and that year's return. We explain what it says, what they're asking for and how long you have.

Obamacare

  1. There's an open enrollment period every year. In states that use HealthCare.gov, for 2027 it runs from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Some states have their own website and different dates.

  2. Only if something happens that opens a special period: for example, losing job-based insurance, moving, getting married or having a baby. You usually have 60 days from the event. Tell us your case and we'll check it.

  3. It depends on where you live, your immigration status and whether you already have insurance through work. The rules change from time to time: we check your case with the current year's rules.

  4. It depends on your household income, how many of you there are and where you live. If your income is within certain limits, the government pays part of your premium every month. That's why it matters to estimate your yearly income well.

  5. It's the share of medical costs the plan pays, on average: Bronze 60%, Silver 70%, Gold 80% and Platinum 90%. Extra savings on copays and deductibles only come with Silver plans.

  6. It's best to review it every year during Open Enrollment: plans change and the help is based on that year's income.

  7. Report it to the Marketplace as soon as you can. The help depends on your income and it's checked on your taxes with Form 1095-A: if you earned more than estimated, you may have to pay part of it back.

  8. It's the form the Marketplace sends you if you had Obamacare, even for one month. It arrives by mail by mid-February, and it may be in your Marketplace account as early as mid-January. You need it to file your taxes, because it's used to check the help you received.

  9. Yes. We explain the types and what to ask, so your family has support if something happens to you. No pressure: first you understand, then you decide.

  10. That too. We explain the options and how they fit with your health insurance.

ITIN

  1. Yes. You file with an ITIN, a number the IRS gives to people who can't get a Social Security number. We help you apply with Form W-7.

  2. If they don't have a Social Security number and you're claiming them, they may need one. We'll tell you which documents the IRS asks for each of them.

  3. Form W-7 and documents that prove who you are and where you're from, such as a valid passport. It's usually sent together with your tax return. We tell you what the IRS asks for in your case.

  4. No. An ITIN is for your taxes only. According to the IRS, it doesn't authorize you to work, doesn't change your immigration status and doesn't qualify you for Social Security benefits.

  5. If your ITIN expired and you need to file, it has to be renewed with the same Form W-7. We help you fill it out and prepare it together with your return.

Business & LLC

  1. It depends on how it's registered. For the IRS, a single-member LLC, unless it elects otherwise, is reported on the owner's return; one with two or more members files as a partnership. We tell you which return yours files.

  2. The state filing fee on Sunbiz is $125. After that, every year, the Annual Report: $138.75, between January 1 and May 1. These are Florida state fees, not our price.

  3. It's the number the IRS gives your business. It's used for business taxes, to hire employees and often to open the business bank account. The IRS issues it for free; we help you apply if you'd rather not do it alone.

  4. Yes: self-employment tax, which pays your Social Security and Medicare. According to the IRS it's 15.3%, and it applies if your net earnings are $400 or more for the year.

  2. Your photo ID and the unsigned document: you sign it in front of the notary public, at our office in Doral.

  3. No. In Florida, a notary public can't certify copies of vital records, such as birth, marriage or death certificates. Those copies are requested from the office that keeps the record.

  4. With the paperwork, yes: we help you fill out USCIS Form I-765, check that no signature or page is missing and help you send it. We don't give legal or immigration advice, and we don't represent you before USCIS.
